The Living History group

HOW did they live? 

HOW did they make things?

The Living History Group bring history to life by researching and re-enacting how people of byegone ages lived their lives. The group welcome members with interests in all periods of history.

The major research project since 1991
has been
Viking and Saxons of tenth century England


Other projects organised by the Living History group include
VIKINGS, TUDORS and ENGLISH CIVIL WAR.
A week long project for school children to visit Bells Farm and experience projects from three periods of history.
 
THE SAXON PROJECT (Link to Pictures)
A tented Viking Village with a whole host of Arts, Crafts and Life skills demonstrated to school children and general public. 
 
 THE WRITING PROJECT
THe LHE team visited several schools and ran workshops an writing from early Ogam, Chinese lettering, Saxon scripts, Viking Runes, Renaisance Italic, Printing with blocks through to computer desk top publishing. 


JEWELLERY THROUGH THE AGES
A workshop for the Museum Service demonstrating how to make jewellery from several different cultures and time periods for use with childen's history classes.
